Crestview Neighborhood
Sandwiched between River Road in south Salem, Oregon, and the Candalaria neighborhood, lies the smaller Crestview Neighborhood. There are a few small subdivisions that make up this area and then a larger newer construction neighborhood. Most of this neighborhood was built in the 2004-2006 range with some of the homes on Gilbert Street being around a bit longer. With their Arts and Crafts influences, the homes in Crestview were built by several small local builders. As such, floor plans and amenities between homes are varied.
There is a small neighborhood park/common space area for neighbors in the subdivision. The location of the area allows for quick access to downtown, or nearby Minto Brown Island Park. Minto Brown Island Park has one of the off-leash dog parks for Salem, as well as, trails around the park for a bike ride, a walk, or a run. If that doesn’t work for your fitness needs, the Courthouse Athletic club is nearby with racquetball courts and a pool. When you are done with all that exercise, just walk over to the Salem Golf Club and go to Whiskey Browns for a bite to eat at their outside dining.
Homes are generally in the $600,000-$800,000 price range in this area.
Neighborhood Life
This is a hilly neighborhood so it can be difficult for cyclists and walkers, depending on your knees. The hills give some homes great coastal range mountain views though. Flat land is very close with a quick trek down Schurman Dr to get to Minto Brown Island Park. From there you can access 29 miles of walking and bike trails plus the 30-acre off-leash dog park. While Crestview is a car-dependent neighborhood, walking through Minto Brown to get downtown is a very nice walk or bike ride.
While you need to go up and over the hill to get to Commercial and Liberty to get to grocery stores and restaurants Whiskey Browns, the Salem Golf Club, and Courthouse Athletic Club are a short walk away. This neighborhood does have its own HOA that maintains the small private park space inside the subdivision. They have community gatherings there and is meant for residents to use.
The neighborhood feeds into Candalaria Elementary, Leslie MS, and South Salem HS.
