I am the owner of the Tomson Burnham firm and am licensed to practice real estate in the State of Oregon. I have been an agent since 2004 and owned my own brokerage since 2007.
I am a mom, a lover of books, a casual hiker, and a nature photography hobbyist. I’m also a foodie and like trying out all of the new restaurants in the Salem area. From coffee to wine to lemon tiramisu, I’ve got you covered with recommendations. I’m also a data geek. If there is a number to crunch and analyze I’m all over it. I am the author of our blog and talk about market statistics and have been blogging since 2007.
I sell all sorts of homes and investment properties. If someone lives in it, I sell it. I sell multi-family housing to acreage to old vintage homes. Older homes/units are my specialty though. If it has asbestos, lead paint, galvanized plumbing, knob and tube, ungrounded outlets, etc you are in my territory, from bungalows to Victorians to MCM’s. I restore homes for investment as well as sell real estate. My office is the Burgraff-Burt-Webster house and I’ve been slowly restoring it since 2014 when I purchased it. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. I also restore old homes and then rent them so I’m actively involved in the Salem rental market if you are an investor.

Melina helped me find a great home in a tough market in Salem. She was responsive and honest, keeping me focused on what I needed in a home rather than letting me get caught up in the frantic nature of home buying. She gave me concrete feedback and advice on properties, but also let me make the final decisions. She listened to what I thought I needed and translated it to what Salem had to offer, which was great since I was coming from out of town. Melina was fantastic to work with and if I ever need to move again (please, no thank you) I’ll work with her without a doubt.
There are not enough positive words in the English language to describe this company. From start to finish we were completely at ease with our transaction. Melina delivered EVERYTHING she said she would do for us and always kept me up-to-date each step of the way. If you want to sell, purchase or both Tomson Burnham should be your very first call.
Melina Tomson is a terrific realtor. She covered all the bases and gave me good information at the outset of working together. She was very personable, informative, thorough, and professional. She knows the Salem real estate market! Plus she has a terrific sense of humor! I was living in an East Coast state for most of the time my house was on the market and Melina made the experience seamless and easy. She was incredibly accessible and available, especially given a three-hour time difference. Whenever I had questions, I was able to call her and get a prompt response! She also worked really well with my two daughters who were helping with this project. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to sell their house.
Melina was with us for months while we prepped our house for sale, got it listed, and then sold. I can’t imagine using any other realtor. It was our first time selling a house and there were a lot of moving parts (with renovations/repairs and a cross country move in the middle of things), but Melina guided and supported us every step of the way. I appreciate doing business with someone who is honest, realistic, and doesn’t over-promise. I could tell Melina was all of those things from the first time we met with her and we trusted her completely from that moment on. Our sale was complicated, but we ended up selling over asking. I’m sure Melina doesn’t miss our incessant texts and questions, but we definitely miss talking to her now that the house is sold. 🙂 If you’re looking for a realtor that won’t pull the wool over your eyes, won’t promise you the moon on something they can’t deliver, but will give you their honest advice and counsel with your best interests at heart, then you can’t go wrong with Melina Tomson and Tomson Burnham Realty. Highly recommend!
The most amazing broker that I could have asked for. She handled everything for me and I mean everything! Nothing was left to chance. If you are looking for hassle free this is the place! Thank you so much for helping me sell my house and doing everything for me!
Melina Tomson is the best realtor a buyer could want in this difficult real estate market. Melina is very knowledgeable about houses and really advocates for her clients. We valued her input and opinion and cannot imagine having anyone better or more qualified. We just relocated to Salem from the South and Melina has also given us great referrals for services and contractors in town. Thanks Melina and thanks Tomson Burnham!
If you are even considering buying a home in Salem/Keizer, I need to tell you a story about an amazing woman and realtor – Melina Tomson. My Mom recently passed away from brain cancer. It was my job to “handle her affairs”, one of which was to sell her home. We interviewed several people based on YELP reviews. We chose Melina to sell Mom’s home. We had NO IDEA what a good choice we made. She staged the house just beautifully. Within days we got our first offer.
But there were problems on the horizon. Essentially, my Mom’s home (which looked beautiful) had a fair amount of deferred maintenance. Here’s what we faced 1) sunken oil tank, 2) old roof, 3) heater air-conditioning needed to be replaced, 4) water main to the street needed to be replaced, 5) electrical panel needed to be replaced. That, combined with clouds on the title and some other “issues” meant that we had two “failed sales”. Through all of this Melina was “as cool as a cucumber”. She always had the answers. More than that – she always knew exactly the right person to call in to help. And, since she’s worked with all these contractors before, she was able to get them to do the work with the expectation they would get paid at closing. She did all this with a super positive attitude. The house sold in a fairly short period of time considering the challenges. I don’t live in the Salem/Keizer area so there is just no way we could have done this without Melina’s finesse, knowledge, and hard work. If you are considering buying or selling a home in the Salem/Keizer market, your first move should be to pick up the phone and call Melina. I’m not a huge referral person, but I would take a phone call from anyone that has any questions. Melina is a rock star! Thanks! You are a friend of the family…
