One of the reasons many people choose to move to Oregon is because of our many natural areas. There is no lack of trees in Oregon and the Salem Oregon area has its fair share of great local parks. North Fork Park is just one great area.
Located close to Mill City, this park is about 25 minutes east of Salem. There are several park areas along North Fork Road, but North Fork park is great for families. There can be a good current going through some of the rocks so you need to watch your kids carefully in the rocky areas. It’s great for mini hikes up and down the river.
There is a great swimming hole there that feels amazing on our hot days. This is the part that is the focal point of this particular park. There is plenty of room for a family picnic even when it is busy. You do need to know that there is a slight current that runs through the swimming hole so for starting swimmers a life jacket or floaties is a good idea. Stronger swimmers should have no trouble here.
This is a great place to go to beat the heat during the summer and if you are considering relocating to the Salem Oregon area, this will be one more place to have fun.
Yes, great for families but have you ever caught any of the fish there?
No, why? Are they two headed or something?
